Sonia Sanchez—poet, activist, scholar—is one of the most powerful voices in the Black liberation movement. Sanchez was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1934, and has become a prominent poet and activist worldwide. She was a vital wiriter in the Black Arts Movement, and is the author of sixteen books. Ms. Sanchez spent three decades in New York before moving to Philadelphia where she taught English and Women’s Studies at Temple University. More Info below.
