A Celebration Of Taiwanese Music, With Jessica And Henry Chen

Join us in the Edendale Library meeting room on Tuesday April 22nd at 6:30 p.m. for a Celebration of Taiwanese Music.  Jessica Chen (violin) and Henry Chen (cello) present a musical duo performance that showcases the beauty and diversity of music representing Taiwan and the Taiwanese diaspora. Musical selections include Taiwanese Mandopop songs (Mandarin pop music) and Taiwanese folk songs, including those originally sung in Mandarin Chinese, Taiwanese Hokkien, and Taiwanese aboriginal languages. The duo will also perform a medley from the Dreamworks TV show Abominable and the Invisible City, written by LA-based Taiwanese-American composer George Shaw and representative of the vibrant Taiwanese-American community in Los Angeles. Jessica and Henry draw on their Taiwanese-American heritage to present a personally meaningful program that will resonate with diverse listeners.
