Join us at the opening reception for this exclusive three-day exhibition, featuring quilt blocks created in homage to the extraordinary Harriet Powers (1837-1910). Powers’ quilts are considered some of the finest examples of African American art and have made lasting contributions to American cultural heritage. Thirteen blocks by the fiber artists of Princeton Sankofa Stitchers Modern Quilt Guild recreate Powers' "Pictorial Quilt", housed in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Each block tells a story, interpreted by guild members with vibrant fabrics and contemporary sensibilities. More Info below.
