Stalker (1979) - Director Andrei Tartovski @Black Potion

Excited to join up with our friends at Black Potion for this one. As part of their Director focuses, this incredible film is by one of Russia's most revered directors, Andrei Tartovski, and STALKER is perhaps his magnum opus. We'll meet in the game room / lobby near the back register counter. The Trailer: Stalker The Synopsis: In an unnamed country at an unspecified time, there is a fiercely protected post-apocalyptic wasteland known as The Zone. An illegal guide (Aleksandr Kajdanovsky), whose mutant child suggests unspeakable horrors within The Zone, leads a writer (Anatoliy Solonitsyn) and a scientist (Nikolay Grinko) into the heart of the devastation in search of a mythical place known only as The Room. Anyone who enters The Room will supposedly have any of his earthly desires immediately fulfilled. Reviews: STALKER is a treasure: an invitation to go on a mental ride with a poet and philosopher. It's a complex, oblique parable that draws unforgettable images and philosophical musings from its sci-fi/thriller setting. No one tops Tarkovsky's ability for immersion, and the metaphysical enigma of Stalker is one of cinema's most impressive achievements. Impressive work. It challenges us, whether we are people of faith or not. In a dramatically fantastic artistic career, Stalker is Tarkobvky’s greatest achievement, and one of film’s greatest accomplishments, as well.
