Join the Professional Practices class by stepping into a visual culmination of their years of hard work! Hidden Hallways is a student-led group exhibition displaying over forty contemporary works from senior fine artists and illustrators located in Gallery 700 of Columbia’s 623 building. The students have captured their complementary styles by creating an intertwined visual assemblage of their varying disciplines. This show explores themes of self-identity, culture, personal struggle, and more through differing mediums and levels of experimentation. These participating seniors have spent years formulating their practices through meticulous routine and practical application, many of whom have taken it upon themselves to explore alternative mediums in order to better represent themselves. Here, we can see the communication of stories between numerous seemingly unlike works linking one to the next through personal expression. A number of the participating artists have also previously shown their work in other Columbia College affiliated galleries and shows as well as some throughout the greater Chicagoland area. These emerging professional artists welcome you to explore the show through the lens of self-reflection, entertainment, and artistic discovery.
