The people have spoken and after counting the votes, "The Last Dragon" won out for BeReel Micheaux's Action August! As martial artist “Bruce” Leroy Green (Taimak) searches New York City for a master who can help him harness the mysterious power of “The Glow,” he’ll have to face-off against Sho’nuff (Julius Carry) for bragging rights as baddest man in Harlem. Add to the mix musical numbers, pizza, a power-mad video-arcade tycoon, a delightfully campy performance by Vanity, a cameo by William H. Macy, one-liners galore, and Berry Gordy-produced soundtrack, and you get what surely must be the greatest Motown kung-fu flick in history! Don’t forget to stick around after the movie for a talkback with Vincent Williams and Len Webb of The Micheaux Mission and Stephanye Watts of the Be Reel Black Cinema Club—and to vote on the next film in the series! This program is presented with the generous support of the League of Historic American Theaters. More Info below.
