In honor of International Women's Day, Armenian Film Society presents Armenian Women in Film and Entertainment. In this panel discussion, a group of leading Armenian women will share their experience of what it is like to work in the film and entertainment industries, including details on their backgrounds, their journey to their current roles, as well as success, failures, and lessons learned along the way. Panelists include: Yvette M. Amirian Sona Movsesian Fuliane Petikyan Angela Sarafyan Natalie Qasabian Doors open at 7pm. Panel discussion will begin at 7:30pm. Parking is available at the Glendale Transportation Center, a short walk to Hero House. Yvette M. Amirian Yvette M. Amirian, ACE is a film and television editor. In 2011, she and her team received an Eddie Award nomination from the American Cinema Editors (ACE) for their work on Whale Wars . In 2017, she edited and produced John Singleton's L.A. Burning: The Riots 25 Years Later , which was nominated for an Emmy Award. The Integrity of Joseph Chambers , her most recent project for critically acclaimed filmmaker Robert Machoian, premiered in competition at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival and was released in theaters in February 2023. She currently teaches Motion Picture Editing as an adjunct faculty at USC's School of Cinematic Arts. She is a member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and the American Cinema Editors. Sona Movsesian Sona Movsesian is an executive assistant, author, and media personality, who has been the personal assistant of late-night talk show host Conan O'Brien since 2009. Sona has become a fan favorite and a regular feature on all things Team Coco. She currently co-hosts Conan O'Brien's podcast, Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend . In 2022, she released a humorous how-to book titled The World's Worst Assistant , which became a New York Times Best Seller. Fuliane Petikyan Fuliane Petikyan is the Managing Partner and Executive Producer of the production company, Fela. In her career, she has worked with directors such as Director X, Karena Evans, David Dobkin, Dave Meyers, and has had artist collaborations with the likes of Drake, Lizzo, Post Malone, Usher, Maroon 5, Coldplay, Lil Wayne, and Nikki Minaj. In 2018, she spearheaded the production of Motherland , a documentary about Armenian women deminers. Angela Sarafyan Angela Sarafyan is an actress who has appeared in numerous television series and films, including Westworld , The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 , The Immigrant , Reminiscence, among other projects. In 2017, she was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award alongside the cast of Westworld . Natalie Qasabian Natalie Qasabian is a film producer whose credits include Searching , Run , Missing , among other films. Searching , starring John Cho and Debra Messing, was acquired by Sony at Sundance in 2018 and went on to gross $75 million at the box office on a budget of under $1 million. Run , starring Sarah Paulson and Kiera Allen, became the most-watched film on Hulu in 2020. In 2021, she was awarded the Sundance Institute/Amazon Studios Producers Award for Fiction Filmmaking for her work on Run .
